Effective Acne & Rosacea Treatment IN MANCHESTER
The Clinical Picture

Inflammation, Bacteria & Mites
While often grouped together, Acne and Rosacea are distinct, complex medical dermatoses that require very different management strategies.
Acne Vulgaris: This is fundamentally a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit (the oil gland and hair follicle). It begins with "hyper-keratinisation", where sticky skin cells block the pore. This creates an oxygen-free environment perfect for Cutibacterium acnes bacteria to thrive, triggering deep inflammation and pustules.
Rosacea: This is a chronic neuro-vascular disorder. It is characteriSed by "vascular instability" (flushing) and a compromised skin barrier. In many patients, it is driven by an immune reaction to Demodex mites, microscopic organisms that live on everyone's skin but overpopulate in rosacea-prone faces, causing persistent redness and papules.
Our Medical Approach

High-street facials and over-the-counter washes cannot treat these conditions. As NHS GPs, we manage the vast majority of these cases in the community.
Our approach is Prescription-Led. We partner with Klira, the world's most advanced dermatology platform, to design custom-compounded "Specials" for you. This allows us to combine powerful active pharmaceutical ingredients, which are not available off the shelf, into a single, elegant nightly cream to target the root cause of your specific condition.

Medical Diagnosis:
A face-to-face consultation to differentiate between hormonal acne, rosacea, and perioral dermatitis. Misdiagnosis is common (e.g., treating rosacea with acne acids often makes it worse), so accurate diagnosis is the first step.
Klira "Special" (Tretinoin):
The gold standard treatment and most researched retinoid for Acne. We prescribe this to accelerate cell turnover, preventing the "sticky cells" from blocking the pores in the first place, while also treating post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Klira "Special" (Azelaic Acid / Ivermectin):
A potent anti-inflammatory combination indicated for Rosacea. Ivermectin reduces the Demodex mite population, while Azelaic Acid calms the vascular redness and kills bacteria.
Polynucleotides:
Prescription retinoids and antibiotics are prescription only medicines. We manage your journey carefully to mitigate side effects such as "purging" (an initial flare-up) or dryness. We also rigorously screen for contraindications, for example, Tretinoin is strictly contraindicated during pregnancy. We provide a full medical safety net, monitoring your skin’s tolerance and adjusting your prescription strength month-by-month to ensure safe, long-term clearance.
